According to APA and other Austrian news platforms, a new corona ordinance will be presented this afternoon. The main point of the law: Corona quarantine will be phased-out
According to articles published on several Austrian news platforms, anyone who does not feel ill can leave the house even after a positive Corona test but is subject to some restrictions. This means that the FFP2 mask must be worn unless you are outdoors and no one is walking within two meters.
Corona quarantine in Austria falls: regulation is presented
Furthermore, the ordinance defines prohibitions on entering. These are hospitals, care and handicapped and spa facilities, childcare facilities, elementary schools, and after-school care centers. However, employees may enter these workplaces wearing a mask if infected.
Work with positive corona test possible as of August 1
In any case, work with a positive test will be possible again in the future – specifically, when the regulation comes into force on August 1 – if a mask is worn. However, this does not apply in professions where wearing a mask makes the job impossible, such as speech therapists and musicians.
There are no restrictions if only persons currently infected with the coronavirus meet at the workplace. However, even here, there is an exception. In vulnerable settings such as hospitals, a mask must be worn.
In the future, there will again be an exception for at-risk groups. They do not have to work at the place of work if there is no suitable protective equipment there.
Entering inns and swimming pools as a Corona-infected person wearing a mask is possible.
At home, infected persons are not required to wear a mask as long as only persons of the same household are present; this also applies to private cars. However, it is allowed to go to restaurants or swimming pools despite a positive test, but only with a mask. This means that sitting in a pub and chatting is allowed, but consuming something, there is expressly not permitted.
Restrictions apply already from positive antigen test
It should be noted that the restrictions do not only apply after a positive PCR test but already after an antigen test, which indicates an infection with Covid. If a PCR test does not confirm this, the restrictions fall. The limits apply for a maximum of ten days; you can test free after five.
Currently, the Corona rules provide for quarantine for at least five days, after which one can be cleared with a CT value of over 30. Except in Vienna, restrictions apply after five days until the tenth if you are still positive.
The regulation will be officially presented at a press conference by the Ministers of Social Affairs and Labor.
